Avery Dennison buys ten Scodix presses

Packaging and label giant Avery Dennison has struck a deal with digital enhancement solutions developer Scodix to buy ten of its Scodix Ultra Pro presses, set to be housed in its Retail Branding and Information Solutions (RBIS) sites around the world.

The press installations will see Avery Dennison integrate the Scodix solutions to ‘transform’ its label solutions for the apparel industry.

The presses are slated to complement Avery Dennison’s existing suite of tag and label printers, using the Scodix branded process HD by Scodix which applies a special polymer to produce a selective spot varnish to digitally recreate the effect of traditional analogue flat varnishes.

“This partnership is about the convergence of innovation and sustainability, which is integral to both the Scodix and Avery Dennison RBIS brand,” said Roy Porat, Scodix chief executive.

“We look forward to collaborating closely with RBIS to enhance graphic tags and consumer packaging for the world’s most apparel and footwear brands.”

Avery Dennison will be using the Scodix presses and its solutions to print label tags for global clothing brands The North Face and Astrid Andersen.

Avery Dennison RBIS operates six facilities around Australia in NSW, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania. Scodix is supplied by Currie Group in Australia.
