Bankstown franchisee doubling volumes

In a tough week for the franchise world Kwik Kopy Bankstown is showing that there is plenty of opportunity in print, revealing that his store is on its way to doubling its volumes since it invested in a new Konica Minolta C1100 digital colour printer.

Weir says, “Our investment in the new Konica Minolta C1100 colour printer has increased our volume from 65,000 clicks a month to more than a 100,000 clicks. And we are doing a lot more in-house rather than sending jobs out, so profit has increased, and speed of turnaround is much better.”

However he cautions that while having the best equipment is vital for a business to succeed, the owners and staff must invest energy into the business to increase their client base. He says that printers need to do more to develop their client list, and to maintain workflow efficiencies to sustain the business in this ‘tough’ environment.’

“A lot of people are down saying that print is dying, I don’t think so – there is heaps out there, if you want it you have to go and get it, it is not going to come to you,” Weir says.

Priasing his new printers he says because the C1100 is air-fed not roll-fed, it handles all different substrates, has better colour management with ‘super quick’ registration and speed of 100/A4 colour sheets per minute and 53/A3 colour sheets per minute. The maximum paper capacity for the C1100 press is 13,890 sheets.

Weir says the company has also taken advantage of new technology, which caters for faster turnarounds and less down time. “So now we can send the job straight on the system and it will print it for us, which means we don’t have to go through the prepress and setting up the job. It just does it for us, leading to less down time,” he says.
