BJ Ball widens its format

BJ Ball is making its first foray into wide format, and is using its iConsignment system to provide the wide format media to printers.

The company is launching into wide-format media supplies through its Icon brand, supplying all types of substrates used by wide format printers including stock for aqueous, solvent, eco solvent, UV, latex, and rigid printing.

Its iConsignment system essentially means that BJ Ball will supply a range of media into a printer, and will automatically restock that media when supplies run low, with the printer only paying on usage, so no upfront cost, and no need to worry about re-ordering.

The iConsignment system complete with racking was launched into digital cut sheet print sector at PacPrint and has proved highly popular with digital printers.

The BJ Ball wide format range incorporates products from Mactac, which includes self-adhesive products anything from outdoor wall wraps to car wrap films, Yupo for polypropylene substrates including blockout, backlit and Octopus grades, and ClingZ, a white and clear polypropylene that BJ Ball says sticks to virtually anything and can be applied both sides, making it suited for point-of-sale advertising.

BJ Ball’s move into the growing wide format sector comes as paper merchants look for growth areas to supplement the static sheetfed offset market, rival Spicers is already in wide format in both media and hardware.
