Canon Oceania eyes further expansion

Canon Oceania managing director Yusuke Mizoguchi tells The Australian an aggressive strategy of acquisitions and organic growth is on the cards for the imaging giant.

Mizoguchi says several recent takeovers have put the company in good stead in what has been a quiet period for Canon’s flagship business in consumer cameras.

In recent years Canon has made several acquisitions, including its 2010 takeover of Dutch printing manufacturer Océ.

Mizuguchi says the company will continue to branch out from consumer cameras to explore business and IT services.

“The next five years for us will see a continuing shift to a services model for businesses and consumers while maintaining our focus on our core business and consumer imaging products,” he says.

The company is projecting that more than half of its B2B offering will come from services by the year 2020.

“We are seeing more clients moving towards managed services for business process and print, both on and off-customer site,” Mizoguchi says.

“We will continue to strengthen the suite we are able to provide our customers.”

In September at Visual Impact Sydney, Canon’s ‘As Committed As You’ themed stand aimed to express commitment to the wide format industry and a guarantee in R&D.

Canon Australia has also recently launched a new range of digital printers, the ImagePress series, which it claims is capable of providing vibrant and consistent image quality across a wide range of media.
