CMYKhub’s Canon varioPRINT iX3200 B3 press is now in operation at the company’s soon to be opened state-of-the-art headquarters in Melbourne.
CMYKhub first made its investment in cutsheet inkjet production equipment by signing for two Canon varioPRINT iX3200 B3 presses at drupa last year.
The family-owned company produces a vast range of printed products – from business cards, brochures, stationery and calendars to banners, signage & display, labels and packaging – for independent printers, franchise groups, print brokers and managers, advertising agencies and graphic designers.

At the time of the purchase, the investment was the culmination of two years of inkjet research and testing by CMYKhub to find the platform that would best fit its mid-term plans and the needs of their customers.
“We were already a Canon customer as we have a number of their wide format Colorado devices, so had also followed their cutsheet inkjet developments and had the varioPRINT iX3200 on our list as a potential investment,” said Dayne Nankervis, CEO of CMYKhub, told Sprinter at drupa.
“We carefully considered a number of other inkjet printers as well, of course, but after rigorous testing that included factory and customer visits, it became clear that the iX3200 was the press for us. We trust the technology and we see some great benefits – the print quality is exceptionally high with vibrant colours and it’s consistent on every substrate.
“As a B3 printer, it also delivers an excellent level of productivity. And it’s also so easy to run and has an intuitive user interface. I can understand why it has such high uptime too, as it’s a simple machine designed extraordinarily well.
“We’ll start by running lighter weight, uncoated and document-based stocks through the iX3200 for letterheads, books and textbooks, and in time transition across more higher coverage products, such as leisure books, a sector that we want to break into.
“For CMYKhub, this purchase in the Canon varioPRINT is our first step into cutsheet inkjet, but if it works well for our production environment, we could see a further investment in the future.”
CMYKhub’s new premises, which is scheduled for occupancy from mid-September, will represent twice the space of its current premises, which is currently spread over six locations in Heidelberg, Melbourne. The new headquarters on Wright Road will also feature 500sqm of office space across two levels.
Nankervis recently revealed plans to Sprinter to move towards 24-hour production at its new headquarters, a move that will also create new job opportunities.
“We have a total goal of this factory being a 24-hour operation, which will mean new staff – so we will be actively recruiting,” Nankervis said.
“This setup, with its purpose-built layout, new equipment, and proximity to the city and major freight hubs, positions us for strong, sustainable growth.”
Earlier this month, CMYKhub unveiled its Komori Lithrone GX40RP at the Keilor Parks site. The Komori Lithrone GX40RP is a two-sided press with high productivity, stable printing, no sheet flipping, reduced waste, and eco-conscious functions.
