Following more than 10 years as the X-Rite Colour and Appearance dealer in Australia and New Zealand, and his appointment as exclusive X-Rite distributor in March 2002, owner David Mulligan has overseen sales growth in excess of double. He has recruited one of Australia/New Zealand’s most respected colour applications specialists in Trevor Canty, and appointed a qualified network of major dealers, mostly CTP vendors.
Mulligan says, “We do nothing else but help our clients control their colour, it’s a passion with us, we’re engineering-based and we like to immerse ourselves in challenging colour issues”.
Regarded as the world’s leading manufacturer of spectrophotometers, densitometers and associated software, this Michigan, USA based company recently acquired Centurfax’s Dotmeter technologies and Monaco colour calibration software.
The range of X-Rite instruments covers basic, budget-priced monitor calibrators and spectrodensitometers, to highly sophisticated scanning spectrophotometers that measure, analyse and archive spectral data and density on web offset presses.
Mulligan says he is extremely happy with how the relationship, nearing the two-year mark, is going.
“We are so busy doing what we are doing, my guess is that we’ll keep doing more of the same. It’s very hard to find competent colour applications knowledge so we will continue as a small, focused team trying to be the best in our field, supporting our dealers and direct customers. X-Rite will of course continue to innovate, and Colorite will gain the natural benefit from this,” says Mulligan.
