Competition gets fierce at NPA

Hundreds of printers have entered this year’s National Print Awards – held on May 15, in Sydney Olympic Park – making the decision to select the winner a tough gig for the newly appointed judges. The judging will commence tomorrow and is expected to take two full days with the panel scouring through 700 entries across 25 categories plus the three sponsors awards and the best in show judges award to select the winners. Kodak’s Luke Wooldridge NPA chairman of judges for the second year running, says the success of reintroducing the direct entry model for this year’s NPA has given the judges a ‘tough job ahead’.

Wooldridge says, “We are delighted with the enormous show of support this demonstrates for the National Print Awards. “It really shows the value the industry places on the awards and the desire of print service providers not only to demonstrate what they can do, but to have it judged against the work of their peers in a truly independent forum.” Wooldridge has assembled a new team of judges from each state, which he says, includes practitioners and experts from all forms of printing, who have been selected for their particular expertise and experience. “We have looked at the competition categories and targeted people with specific expertise to ensure each category is judged in a manner befitting its particular challenges and intricacies,” he says. “The National Print Awards judging process has always been completely transparent, and the skill of our judging panel, together with the robust and time-proven processes we have in place, ensures the industry can rely on the integrity of Awards – and therefore be confident of the significant value a NPA ‘Gold’ delivers to winning businesses.” The winners will be announced at the NPA presentation dinner on Friday, May 15 – also the last evening of PrintEx15 exhibition, which begins Wednesday, May 13 – at Waterview in Bicentennial Park, Sydney Olympic Park.
