Currie making hay on roadshow tour

The Currie Roadshow has arrived in Perth this morning after blazing a trail across Australia through country Victoria, Adelaide and the Nullarbor, making several sales and showcasing new equipment.

Managing director Bernie Robinson says the trip has been successful so far, with printers from 24 print businesses showing up in Adelaide to get their hands on new kit and see live demonstrations.

He says Currie has made several sales on the tour, including a Horizon VAC-1000A collating and finishing unit and SPF 200 L Stitchliner to Bendigo family business Mullqueen Printing, and a VAC-1000A and Horizon BQ270V perfect binding system to Express Printers in Adelaide, and Hansen Print & Design at Naracoorte picked up a Horizon CRF 362 creaser/folder, with other deals still being finalised.

The 41.5t, 20 metre long and up to 6.5 metre wide truck passed through Albury and Bendigo, VIC and then to Adelaide before heading west. It will now rest up over Easter before its final show at the company’s offices in Perth where it will debut Currie’s new TBC-200L top and bottom inline cutting unit for use with SPF systems that has just arrived in Australia.

Robinson says the roadshow is a good way of showing printers outside Melbourne and Sydney its new technology.

“Not a lot of printers in the country or out west can make it into our showrooms during the week to get a look at new gear, so this is a way of getting out there and showing them face-to-face,” he says.

“We can pull up anywhere in this truck and give live demonstrations powered by a portable generator. Our customers really appreciate it.

“We find out what people want to see before we set out and also bring along some new products they might not have seen before.”

He says the roadshow has been so successful Currie will send the truck through Adelaide twice a year.

The final stop will be at Currie’s Perth office at 13 Sangiorgio Court, Osborne Park with doors open for April 29-30 and May 1 from 9am-6pm.

The truck is stacked with an array of equipment including HP Indigo 3550, Horizon Creaser / Folder CRF – 362, Horizon Folder AFC – 564A, Horizon Perfect Binder BQ – 280PUR, Horizon Finishing Line SPF – 200L / FC – 200L / VAC – 1000A, Horizon Table Top Folder PF – 40 and a Cron Thermal CTP System.
