Tony Milone, NSW manager at Absolute Electronics told Australian Printer that the DTM – which was most recently installed at Sydney print shop Glade Graphics – is a way for business with digital printers to increase their print volume and gain access into the mailing market.
He says, “By using the DTM 8000 you can print variable images, graphics and text on every envelope and insert page so it’s targeted directly to the recipient’s needs. When you send out traditional mail publications you might get a two per cent response but if you personalise the print you can average a 20 to 40 per cent response rate.”
Absolute Electronics outlines that the DTM can insert up to three letters per envelope and also has a tip-on function, which allows users to place a business card, credit or loyalty card, redemption voucher or a free form insert into the envelope along with the letters.
Commenting on the installation DJ Wood, manager of Glade Graphics says, “The machine has opened a new market for us. It has enabled us to gain access to clients we haven’t delt with before and offer more services to our existing clients. Everyone who has seen it are blown away with what it can do.”
Milone explains, “The DTM 8000 is all about transforming traditional mail communication into the world of digital media, producing high impact, high recognition and high response mail pieces.”
Using Absolute Electronics developed ‘Peppermill’ composition software, included with the DTM, the design layout is merged with the personalised data and image fields to generate variable digital print files.
Milone also says, “This machine can give printers access to a whole new revenue stream. A lot of people have databases but don’t know what to do with them. The DTM solution capitalises on this resource”
