Durst unveils P10 series wide-format printers

The P10 series comprises two flatbed models, the Durst Rho P10 200/250 and a roll-to-roll machine, the Durst Rho P10 320R.

Durst is targeting the new machines primarily at large-format print businesses producing point-of-sale, point-of-purchase, backlit signage and displays.

Capable of printing 10 picoliter drops using Durst’s Quadro Array printhead technology, the manufacturer claims the machines can produce fine colour graduations and “virtually perfect” colour reproduction.

The P10 series is available in the 2m-wide Rho P10 200 configuration and 2.5m-wide P10 250 while the P10 320R offers a 3.2m-wide print area.

The P10 200/250 models can print at a maximum output speed of up to 175m2 an hour and 200m2 an hour respectively on substrates such as foam board, metal, acrylics and PVC.

Offering a maximum substrate thickness of 40mm, the machines feature a standard CMYK inkset with optional white, light cyan and light magenta available.

The roll-to-roll Rho P10 320R can print at up to 153m2 an hour at 800x600dpi. This slows to 57m2 an hour when printing at the higher 1,000x800dpi resolution.

Capable of printing onto substrate such as textiles and vinyls the 320R can handle thicknesses up to 2mm.

According to Christopher Howard, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Durst, the manufacturer has “raised the bar” with the new 10-picoliter printers.

“They’ll introduce Durst quality and productivity to a whole new segment of sign makers and print providers, and provide new options to wide- and grand-format print providers who might already be our customers,” he added.
