Easton new Latma president

Mark Easton is the new president of the Label and Tag Manufacturers Association of Australia, as long-serving Allan Dabscheck steps down.

Easton, who works as the sales and marketing manager at label printer Impresstik, will head up the association as the incoming president, with Peter Hollywell as vice president and Lindsay Boyd as treasurer voted in at the AGM.

John Leathart from Pegasus Print will serve as general director, while Dabscheck will stay on to look after apprenticeship development.

On the committee, Daniela Walker will manage events for New South Wales, Frank Gavrilos is the ANZFTA Steering Committee contact, Darren Milligan is responsible for marketing and communications and Tania Mathias will look after liason and young managers.

Easton says he will continue to progressively move the association forward in its potential merger with the Australia New Zealand Flexographic Technical Association, or ANZFTA.

“This will bring great benefit to both memberships with increased footprint in industry involvement, overcome duplication of memberships for converters and suppliers on both associations and offer larger and more time beneficial events and functions for our members,” he says.

The two associations are in the process of drafting a new charter, to be reviewed by both boards before a final draft is released to members.

Easton says the merged entity will feature a committee with expertise from both label and packaging sectors and life memberships, Hall of Fame entries and the Label Awards will continue.

Allan Dabscheck has served in various Latma leadership positions for more than 20 years, becoming Victorian vice president and conference chairman in 1991 and serving his first stint as national president from 1995 to 1997.

He was inducted into the Latma Hall of Fame in 2003.

Dabscheck invites all members to attend this year’s Label Awards, to be held at the Melbourne Aquarium on March 26 – coinciding with the Auspack show.
