Eckersley picks up Queensland training award

Eckersley Print Group is a Queensland Training Awards winner for 2025 – taking out the title of Medium Employer of the Year for the North Coast region.

This award recognises businesses with 20–199 employees who are leading the way in providing nationally recognised training and development.

Eckersley Print Group will go on to compete in the State Final in Brisbane on 13 September.

The multi-award-winning Narangba, Queensland-based company won the apprenticeship program for attracting young talent and fostering skills that support the future of print.

With five apprentices already thriving under its innovative and supportive approach, Eckersley Print Group aims to help combat the industry-wide skills shortage through its Apprentice Employer of Choice campaign and initiatives.

“For us, it’s a reflection of the ongoing work we do to create real pathways for learning, upskilling, and long-term careers in the print industry,” the company said upon winning the award.

“At Eckersley Print Group, we’re passionate about investing in our people – from structured apprenticeship programs to mentoring and hands-on experience that leads to formal qualifications. It’s part of our commitment to growing a skilled, confident workforce and strengthening the future of our industry.

“We’re honoured to be recognised at this level and excited to represent our region at the State Final.”

In March, Eckersley Print Group managing director Tom Eckersley told Sprinter that through the apprenticeship program, the company has increased awareness of the great employment pathways within the industry.

“Our focus has been to employ the local area youth. Our goal is to become the best and most desired employer for apprentices and trainees,” he said.

“We have also established a mentorship program, and this is led by one of our experienced team members. The whole program is overseen and headed by Emma Biermann, our business manager.”
