Australian label maker picks up HP award

A WA label maker has won a gong at the recent HP annual digital labels contest in Barcelona.

Supa Stik Labels and Labelling Systems took out the prize for the alcoholic beverage labels category at the third HP Indigo Digital Labels and Packaging Contest, which recognises customers around the world for their innovation excellence in digital printing. HP said it’s the fastest growing segment of the label and packaging converting industry.

Categories such as wine and alcohol, household, industrial and food labels were judged by an expert panel from companies such as Procter and Gamble and Royston Labels.

HP said award entries leapt 48 per cent from last year to 270. Contenders were produced on HP Indigo presses. Winners were displayed earlier this month at the Pack Expo trade show in Las Vegas.

Sales director at Supa Stik Labels and Labelling, Peter Holywell, told ProPrint, “We feel that this is a great reflection of the passion of everyone in the business for continual improvement and excellence. Certainly our digital team lead the way here.”

“Product brand owners, designers and label and packaging converters are growing in creative directions based on the outstanding quality and production flexibility HP Indigo offers,” said Alon Bar-Shany, vice president and general manager, Indigo division, HP. “The end result is that the industry is seeing more and more top-quality labels and packaging work produced with digital – especially the winning entries showcased in this year’s contest.”
