Epson unveils high-speed large format range

Epson has unveiled to the market new ‘high-speed’ colour production printers to add to its Surecolor range, featuring a ten colour ink set and four levels of black.

The newly launched range, according to Epson, is slated to target commercial printers, professional photographers, and fine art and print service providers.

The two printers Surecolor SC-P10070 and SC-P20070 incorporate Epson’s PrecisionCore MircoTFP printhead technology, and new ink set UltraChrome PRO.

Epson also says the range features an ‘advanced media management system’ which is set to track media as it moves through the printer with feed and pressure rollers to ensure ‘superior linearity’.

General manager of business division at Epson, Craig Heckenberg says the machines will bolster production.

“A lot of development work went into the SC-P10070 and SC-P20070,” says Heckenberg.

“These new machines not only deliver increased productivity, but superior print quality, and a reduced running cost. They provide a formidable offering for the production print market.”

Epson states, “Blacks are deeper and richer thanks to new high density Photo and Matte Black inks. Better gradation with reduced graininess is achieved thanks to a K4 ink set and upgraded image processing (Epson Precision Dot technology).”

“The new printhead structure means fewer vibrations and more accurate dot placement. A new utility, Epson Color Calibration, means prints can be consistent time after time, year after year.”

The SureColor SC-P20070 will be available to the market at the end of this month, and the SureColor SC-P10070 will follow in May.
