Gallus Group management attribute much of their company’s success to a stable economic situation and the excellent level of new product acceptance which combined to make 2005 a record year, with the Group generating sales of CHF200m (US$257.3m), an 11 per cent increase over 2004 sales of CHF187m (US$147.5m).

Two strategically important projects were initiated by Gallus Group in 2005:

The Group iis setting up new facilities for the manufacture of screen printing plates investing CHF12m (US$9.5m) in state-of-the-art plant and processing technology for the electrolytic coating process. From 2007, the new production facilities will be responsible for supplying Screeny® screen printing plates globally.

Meanwhile, the Group cintinus to expand its folding carton business: in October 2005, the Gallus Group acquired a 30 per cent stake in BHS Druck- und Veredelungstechnik GmbH of Weiden, Germany. This move is intended to accelerate the expansion of the folding carton business by providing reel-fed printing and converting machines as well as die-cutters for the economical inline manufacture of folding carton boxes.

This business will be integrated within the Gallus Group in an autonomous business unit and will supplement the Heidelberg folding carton range in sheetfed offset printing.

The Gallus Group operates worldwide and is a market leader in the development, production and sale of narrow-web reel-fed printing machinery. In addition, the company also offers consumables and a decentralised, global maintenance and spare parts service.

Since 1999, the Group has been in partnership with Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG. Gallus employs 510 people including 300 in Switzerland. The Group is based in St. Gallen near Zurich and has a regional operations centre in Melbourne.
