Going green gives competitive edge

The PIAA is calling on the printing industry to go green for National Recycling Week, which is taking place this week, and says that going green offers businesses a competitive advantage.

Members of the print community are encouraged to become Sustainable Green Print-certified in response to consumer demands for environmental responsibility, which they can access through the PIAA.

According to PIAA chief executive Jason Allen, consumers prioritise sustainable practices highly when making purchase decisions.

Allen says, “Some 55 per cent of global online consumers are willing to pay more for products from companies they know are making a conscious effort to reduce their carbon footprint.”

“I encourage the printing industry to harness this momentum and implement environmental practices that will help them achieve industry best practices.”

The PIAA says companies can benefit from going certifiably green through reduced costs, monetary incentives and improved staff satisfaction.

“These certifications will reward those who are incorporating environmentally sound practices by defining them as industry leaders in environmental management,” he says.

Chief executive Allen says that following the Green Stamp program gives ‘small to medium businesses a competitive edge’ in the printing industry, and ‘appeals’ to the growing consumer demands for green products.
