NSW-based Grand Print Services recently collaborated with JCDecaux Australia for the ANZ Australian Open campaign.
As part of this campaign, the companies transformed the large-scale tram stops at Melbourne Park – the gateway to Rod Laver Arena – into a striking brand experience for the Australian Open.
The Yarra Trams stop location was the only commuter entry to the Australian Open, serving as a crucial link between Melbourne’s streets and the iconic event.
The takeover spanned across 12 tram shelters with nine different themes, greeting fans with ANZ’s signature blue neon lighting, fully wrapped shelters, seat decals, and two 70m tennis court floor decals – the first of its kind.
Grand Print Services managing director James Sultana told Sprinter, “The two 70m floor decals were very big prints! We have done many print jobs larger than this, but this was the biggest print and install project we have executed.
“Overall, the job was in excess of 670sqm. A fair bit of the specification and install methods were complex on this project too, but we executed it.”
Sultana said Grand Print used a mix of both its Canon Colorado and swissQprint printers to print the jobs, then cut all of the items on its Canon Procut and Zünd machines.
“This site is a landmark site for major Melbourne sporting events. Now that we have been able to execute this project, it puts us in a very good position to take on more projects of this scale in future,” he mentioned.
“We are very confident that with the results from this campaign, it will encourage future bookings for Grand Print – not only on this site but other landmark locations too.”
Grand Print and JCDecaux have been working together for a few years to date, with Sultana adding that their partnership is long-term.
JCDecaux Victorian sales director Kristian Muhllechner said, “This is a Melbourne-first for us. The precinct takeover serves up a winning combination of creativity and scale. It showcases the power a creative campaign can have and the role it plays in brands being seen and remembered”.
