Impika lifts veil on ‘offset’ inkjet at Ipex

The iPress is based on latest generation piezo electric modules from Panasonic. It prints at 1200 x 1200 dpi, outputting 250 feet a minute, producing more than 6000 B2 sheets an hour. Higher resolution 2400dpi output still knocks out 3000 B2 sheets an hour

Inks are water based, pigment or dye based. The inks will print onto a wide range of stocks, including paper and film, coated, matte or gloss. Paper feed is roll to roll or roll to sheet. Maximum web width is 520mm. A sheetfed delivery is in development and will be ready by the middle of next year.

Target markets for Impika are marketing collateral, magazines, catalogues, labels and flexible packaging.

Impika, which was founded in 2003 by leading French digital developers, demonstrated a 28” inkjet print head, allowing printing widths of 711mm, paving the way for a B1 inkjet press, which Impika hinted it will be developing.

The company also showed upgrades to its iPrint 150-250 and iPrint 75-125 series of inkjet printers, which target the books, newspapers and transpromo markets.
