Integrated distribution the IDAB WAMAC way at drupa

IDAB WAMAC is a leading supplier of mailroom equipment and automated mailroom system for the newspaper printing industry worldwide.

The company designs and manufactures customised solutions for optimising mailroom operations. Each mailroom system is unique as each newspaper printing plant is unique and has unique requirements. At drupa, IDAB WAMAC will even go a step further and include the distribution part of conveying the news to the reader.

IDAB WAMAC’s Mailroom control and information system WNC v5 allows integration with subscriber systems and distribution systems from other suppliers. By utilising all tools in the WNC v5, the mailroom operation can be run in an optimised way both capacity wise and cost wise.

The distribution plan and production plan can be simulated and changes in the orders and order sequence can be done up till the very moment a bundle is being produced in order to minimise production and distribution costs.

At drupa, IDAB WAMAC will also exhibit an important part of the mailroom system: its stacker TS 800 for high speed, accurate bundling together with the high speed plastic wrapper PWA 650 v2. The stacker TS 800 produces programmed bundles down to one single copy at a press speed of up to 90,000 cph and the plastic wrapper handles up to 35 bundles per minute. Using high speed bundling lines less equipment and less manning are needed to handle the output from the printing press and the production cost is lowered.

Finally, the company will show the mobile storage system MLS for fully automatic buffering and supplement storage at maximum press speed. The MLS system is a unique concept for storing printed copies. The copy stream from the press is divided into batches and stored in mobile pallets instead of being wound up on traditional reels. The gentle handling of the printed products prevents wrinkling, smearing and set off. The pallets are handled fully automatically on roller conveyors or semi automatically with standard forklifts.
