The agreement will see MAN Ferrostaal reselling and servicing Canon’s digital production print range, including the imagePRESS C7000VP, C6000 and its monochrome imagePRESS 1110, 1125 and 1135 series.
MAN Ferrostaal says the move represents its first step into the provision of digital print technology, reflecting the continued growth of Australia’s digital print market.
For Canon the agreement underscores its intention to broaden its channel to market in order to boost sales growth and customer service. Canon will continue to sell through its existing direct sales channel and provide support through Canon service technicians.
Craig Manson, senior general manager – marketing at Canon Australia says, “Earlier this year we set about building a new channel-focused go-to-market model. As the digital print market expands we want our technologies available to more people in more places.”
He adds, “Australian print owners will continue to look for new technologies and new business opportunities, and Canon’s imagePRESS range is ideally placed to provide very real commercial and creative benefits.”
Meanwhile, Markus Haefeli, chief executive officer at MAN Ferrostaal Australia says, “We believe that in the next 10-15 years a very large percentage of print will be done on digital printers and this technology will become a very important part of our customer’s print press arsenal.”
Haefeli continues, “We have taken the decision that MAN Ferrostaal will be a part of this and we are absolutely convinced that together with a company like Canon we will have an excellent product portfolio to successfully penetrate this market and become a leading supplier of digital solutions to our customer base.”
Steve Brown will be responsible for developing and expanding the digital print business as well as continuing to provide quality products and services to the printing industry. Brown has a solid background in digital print having worked at both Konica Australia and for the last nine years and with Canon Australia.
Brown says, “I am excited to be joining MAN Ferrostaal, this opportunity allows me to combine my passion for Canon products and compliment them with MAN Ferrostaal workflow, finishing and services.”
