Marcatili and three friends will depart Melbourne on 12 October in the five-day Mystery Box rally – but will only be given a car and route at the last minute.
"It’s ridiculous. We fly to the start point on the day before the rally. We have no car, no idea of the route and four guys who’ve never done anything like this before. What could possibly go wrong?" he said.
"Along the way, we’ve committed ourselves to raising a minimum of $6,000 for the Cancer Council. Whatever happens, every cent we raise will go to the charity."
Marcatili said he and his 'Rallying 4 a Cure' teammates had lost friends and relatives to cancer and wanted to play their part in beating the disease.
Marcatili has set a fundraising target of $10,000. Click here to donate.
