MBE set to triple in size

Global outfit Mail Boxes Etc (MBE) revealed heavy Australian expansion plans to its franchisees at the annual award ceremony this year, it says it is set to bring the national store count to 100 from the 31 it currently has.

MBE recently expanded with a new management team, and the global chain confirms it is set to open additional centres across Australia in 2016 due to the ‘excellent’ results of the past year.

The franchise group awarded MBE Camberwell the Franchise of the Year award at the conference, citing a 28 per cent jump in year-over-year sales for 2015 as a driving factor for the stores success.

The Victoria-based franchise is headed by owner Ray Orr. Orr says around 60 per cent of the franchise’s profit generates from printing, and asserts business is only getting stronger.

“January was a particularly great month for us, with revenue two and a half times the same month last year,” he says.

The franchise was awarded the honour, according to MBE, as it achieved consistent growth over the 2014/2015 period under the leadership of Orr.

MBE told its franchisees at the awards ceremony the business is looking to reach 100 stores in Australia in the next five years. They are currently some 31 franchises operating in the country.

MBE is a global retail network of business service centres for design, printing, shipping and mailboxes, and comprises 1500 franchises worldwide.

MBE’s stores employ in house graphic designers, and Orr says his franchise owns digital, offset and wide-format printers producing for a range of demands including media signage.

Orr has been with MBE for 10 years this month, and was recognised by CEO Clayton Treloar as providing consistent high numbers and adding value to the Australia MBE network.

The award was given at the MBE Australian National Conference on the Gold Coast, and was sponsored by Fuji Xerox, Whirlwind, Konica Minolta and Canon Australia.
