Melbourne outfit moving work to digital

Melbourne printer Any Colour You Like will move more work from offset to digital and improve productivity with its new Fuji Xerox Versant 2100 digital printer.

Owner Jason Barnett says the new printer, bought at PrintEx from the Fuji Xerox stand, will free up other machines for other work and its faster speed will boost output and help the business stay on schedule.

“The Versant 2100 should be able to pull off 20 per cent of our workload which means we can get a lot more done with a simple push of the button,” he says.

“Today everything is wanted yesterday and so the Versant 2100 will ensure we are efficient and what took an hour to do before will now take 10 minutes with the new machine.

“We can also handle more work and know that we can get through it without any stresses. The quality of work will be another drawcard for existing customers as well as attracting new clients.”

The purchase is an upgrade from Any Colour’s Fuji Xerox DocuColor 6075 that will be more productive and allow the business to grow and produce a wider range of products.

“Initially the Xerox 6075 was good for the work we had but as time went on its limitations started to set us back as we grew the business,” Barnett says.

“We were also printing jobs on thick stock the Heidelberg letterpress, we are now putting those through the Versant 2100.”

Barnett says upgrading his equipment will ensure the business remains competitive and continues to focus on its target markets, which include wide format and booklet printing.

“Our volumes for the wide format have been increasing and we want to push for this area to develop it further. At the moment some 10 to 15 per cent of our overall revenue is generated through wide format and we want to continue to grow this,” he says.

“We know that the internet has made life difficult for many printers but for us the boom area is wide format which the Epson GS600 and 9880 will serve well.”

The small family printer based in Collingwood has been running since 2001 and is operated by Barrett, his wife and one full-time and one casual staff.

It prints booklets, catalogues, brochures, flyers, letterpress, banners, point-of-sale as well as graphic design on a Heidelberg Speedmaster 52, Heidelberg Platen Letterpress, Epson GS600 and 9880, and soon the Versant 2100.
