The companies say the new printer combines Canon’s digital colour press technology of the imagePress C7010VP series with Océ Prismasync workflow. They add that the series introduces a number of productivity-boosting features, including an intelligent job scheduler, advanced colour management and an easy to operate, intuitive user interface on a new 15” full colour TFT LCD touch panel.
The job scheduler supports up to eight hours of plan-ahead production, which the companies claim is possible due to the integration of engine and controller technologies. They also claim any operator can run complex colour jobs as easily as black and white ones with a standardised operating concept for Prismasync-driven colour and black & white production printers, such asthe Océ Varioprint 6000 series and add that, for integration into diverse workflows, Océ Prisma software suites fully support imagePress C7010VPS for creation, prepress and make ready, production management and archiving.
The jointly developed product signifies an important milestone for Canon and Océ as they aim for global leadership in the printing industry. They say their next focus areas involve solutions for customers in transaction and direct mail and the incorporation of Océ Prismasync operation management in a model from the light production colour series: Canon imageRunner Advance.
David Preskett, European professional print director at Canon Europe, says, “The high quality of Canon imagePress C7010VPS and the speed with which we have been able to launch it to market demonstrates the level of cooperation that already exists between Canon and Océ. By acknowledging each other’s expertise, we are becoming stronger together and, through such joint innovations as the imagePress C7010VPS, we are better positioned than ever to help our customers make the leap to new areas of business and take advantage of the opportunities available.”
Nick Klitsie, vice president Business Group Office and Printroom, Océ, also comments, “Thousands of Océ VarioPrint customers already benefit from the Prismasync workflow for black and white production. Now Canon and Océ have combined impressive quality, fast productivity and Prismasync workflow efficiency into one powerful colour press system that opens up a world of business opportunities for our customers. Not only will the new models improve production efficiency, but the flexibility that they offer in terms of media handling, run length and intuitive operation means that they will enable print professionals to expand their service offerings and increase their profitability.”
