Océ launches low energy monochrome printer

The company says energy consumption will come down by around 30 per cent with the new black and white printer, which is available in three output speeds of up to 135 pages a minute.

Damian Schaller, marketing manager at Océ says, “In this era of environmental awareness the VarioPrint DP meets the requirements for reducing the environmental footprint, while at the same increasing productivity through new innovations.

The company has been travelling along the eastern seaboard, with well attended launches at football stadiums in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Canon has provided the colour imaging and finishing while Océ has provided the Prisma workflow.

The new toner printer has a self imaging drum which reduces the temperature requirement dramatically, which is where the prime energy saving cones from. It has three major technology innovations; DirectPass, HeatXchange and EnergyLogic.

Servicing costs and times are minimised thanks to the 2000 or so parts being collated into around 80 self contained user replaceable modules. Warm up time is reduced from a typical 5-15 minutes down to just three seconds.

The VarioPrint DP will be available from May through both Canon and Océ.
