Omniverse and Foster unite

Australian packaging company Omniverse is joining forces with the internationally recognised Foster Packaging in a merger deal which is expected to boost the international presence of both companies.

Omniverse Foster Packaging Group will be run by Foster founders Joe and Regan Foster, and former Omniverse executives Brendan Yee and Darren Brits.

The two companies have worked together previously on a variety of projects and have now decided to pool their resources.

Brits tells Australian Printer the merger has been in the pipeline for the past six years, but says now is the right time for both companies to come together.

“Foster Packaging has 18 years of international presence and a lot of experience in global supply chain trends, whereas Omniverse’s primary focus was in the Australian market,” Brits explains.

“By coming together we gain the best of both worlds, it is about that synergetic approach. It gives us not only the global footprint itself, but also increased buying power, logistics, administration and resources with the benefits of these to be felt by the customer.”

Joe Foster believes it is the perfect pairing as both companies share similar ideals and business practices.

He says, “I noticed Omniverse had the same high level of customer service, along with the skillset and knowledge so it made sense to bring both together.”

Omniverse Foster Packaging Group will be based in Melbourne using a facility which has an in-house laboratory for product testing and traceability. The group will continue to use its overseas factories supported by international technical offices.

The merged company will have a workforce of 40, with all staff retained from both companies.

Joe Foster says, “The idea is to ensure there is no fall back and everything is kept the way it is, we need to have staff behind us in order to grow.”

Omniverse Foster Packaging has expertise in both rigid and flexible packaging production, Yee says the consolidation will strengthen the company’s product range.

“Although Omniverse has a broad range of products, Foster Packaging has been an expert in digital and short run packaging, which our product was lacking,” Yee explains.

“Foster’s expertise in that area complements Omniverse and obviously there is range of other benefits as well. The Foster brand is strong overseas, that was a big plus for us that we wanted to leverage.”

To celebrate their re-entry to the market as Omniverse Foster Packaging, the group will be hosting an official launch this month.
