Ooh Media plucks retail contract from APN Outdoor

The contract with client Red Outdoor had been held by market leader APN Outdoor, but Ooh said the contract was “cut short” after nine months to allow them to pick up the work.

Ooh chief executive Brendon Cook said the win meant the company’s portfolio now included 90% of all shopping centres containing retail media advertising throughout Australia.

“Marketing Red Outdoor’s shopper banners is a perfect fit with our ShopaLite, experiential and Retail Extra business. Now it’s easier for advertisers to use a variety of retail solutions to build a solid, national retail campaign with just one phone call,” he said.

The printing work will now be handled by Ooh’s suppliers, including Cactus Imaging, Priority Printing Solutions and Style Print.

APN Outdoor chief operating officer Andrew Hynes told ProPrint that the contract termination was a mutual agreement

“Operationally it was very challenging at their end and also the work was very small for us,” he said.

“Both parties were happy to walk away from the contract.”

Red Outdoor director Myles Quinn said that Ooh’s experience in the sector led to the switch.

“Ooh is the clear leader in retail advertising and they know how to effectively market the medium,” he said.

“This is evident by the year-on-year growth they have delivered, even in the face of the global financial crisis and they have a strong performance delivery for the shopping centre property partners.”
