The event, on 25-26 August at Rydges in Rosehill, NSW, drew in four times the crowds seen at the inaugural conference in Melbourne last year.

Senior executives from Australia and New Zealand print companies such as Lithocraft, McPherson’s Print Group, Fairfax Print, Colorpak and PMP (pictured) heard from speakers on technology and business, followed by a gala dinner on Thursday 25 August.

Attendees told ProPrint that two sessions which particularly stood out were Mark Campbell’s talk on MIS integration and ProPrint columnist Phillip Lawrence’s presentation on the realities of the environment and the carbon tax.

The schedule also included highly technical sessions on press maintenance and the manufacturer’s PrintCom range of automation tools, with key Manroland executives flown in from Germany.

These included Nils Kaben, from the sheetfed division in Offenbach, Peter de Rijke from the newspaper and web side, and Thomas Schonbucher, managing director of Manroland’s production planning business, Eurografica,

Manroland Australasia managing director Steve Dunwell said the event was well received. “Everyone appreciated the whole program. We have had nothing but accolades this week.

“This is part of an ongoing process since we established Manroland Australasia two and a half years ago to continue to get closer out customers.”
