Printpoint calls in liquidators as sale talks continue

ASIC documents show the company entered voluntary liquidation with Pilot Partners on Monday (6 December) and that a resolution to wind up the company has been filed.

Pilot Partners did not comment further on the liquidation when contacted by ProPrint this morning.

ProPrint revealed last week that Printpoint was considering an offer to purchase the business. Managing director Alan Rhodes had earlier denied the company was in administration, despite widespread speculation in the industry.

Rhodes today referred all enquiries to Tom Lusch, managing director of Platypus Graphics. Lusch was hesitant to comment to ProPrint, saying that “things are still being sorted out a bit”.

He confirmed his company’s interest in acquiring some of Printpoint’s assets, adding that “there are a few bits of equipment in there I can see a use for”.

“We’ve known each other a long time, so it’s a sad situation,” he said.

ASIC documents show Printpoint changed its name on 23 November to ‘Red Gum Pacific Pty Ltd’.

Printpoint claims to be Queensland’s only dedicated ‘waterless’ printer. It is based in the suburb of Stafford and also has a sales office in Sydney. Platypus is also based in Stafford.
