Roland DG launches first UV flatbed

Roland DG has launched its first UV flatbed printer to meet growing customer demand, saying it is designed to print thick substrates fast.

Marketing team leader Jake Higgins says the VersaUV LEJ-640FT UV-LED fills a gap in its product range, confirmed by the amount of interest from clients visiting its PrintEx stand.

Roland DG claims market leadership in the roll-to-roll sector and says the arrival of a flatbed printer will spark interest among printers.

Higgins says the machine can print on a wide range of substrates, including heavy and rigid materials up to 150mm thick and weighing as much as 100kg.

“With advanced features to improve everyday workflows such as automatic media height detection, mutli-mode base point selection and zoned vacuum system, the LEJ-640FT delivers the productivity that businesses are looking for,” he says.

“In addition to CMYK, the LEJ-640FT adds white and clear coat ECO-UV inks for POP displays, interior design, art, promotional products, and two-sided signs with high visual impact and exclusive dimensional effects.”

Roland says the new flatbed also has dual media sensors that automatically detect media thickness, allowing the setup of material in a matter of seconds making the machine more efficient and fast.

Higgins says the machine has a powerful zoned vacuum system for holding difficult materials flat, allowing jobs to be set up while another is printing.

“The 1625mm x 2490mm flatbed has ECO-UV inks, which come in 500cc cartridges and its low-heat UV LED curing system makes it capable of printing on a variety of applications,” he says.

“The printer also has patent-pending automatic ink circulation system and produces flawless 1440 x 1440 dpi prints.”
