Snap CEO Grant Vernon to take on one of the world’s toughest marathons

The race, which takes place in the US today (Monday 18 April), has strict entry requirements to ensure only the fittest runners are guaranteed a berth.

Vernon traveled to the US last week to for business before the gruelling 42km run.

The chief exec maintains an active lifestyle. He’s a former AFL umpire and has competed in major cycling events in Europe as well as Ironman triathlon competitions in Australia.

Vernon said fitness helped relieve the pressures of the challenging life of a chief executive.

“I believe you need to work hard – but you also need to balance that outside the work environment,” he said.

“My training has not always been easy, physically or mentally, but it has been a great way to counter the pressures of running a franchise network.”

Vernon said a healthy culture was instilled across the Snap network. In 2008, Snap entered three teams and 14 individuals in the Bussleton Ironman Triathlon.

“What we are finding is that these people, who complete marathons and Ironman triathlons, are inspiring others to take up running or sport and have a go,” added Vernon.
