In an email to the industry, Gary Reynolds, managing director of Supply One thanked his suppliers, customers and even his competition for his successful years within the industry.
He says, “I apologise if we have let you down in anyway, and I want to let you know that this was never my intention. Sometimes it was beyond my control, but the buck stops with me.
“They say everything you do comes to an end in some shape and form, down to the most unimaginable situation of closing the doors and telling your hard working and loyal staff there is no more work and they have to find a new job.”
Supply One – who had sales offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle and Brisbane – was among the first to see the huge impact that wide format printers would have on the industry. It decided early to get on board, and started selling the Roland DG range of printers and cutters with great success mainly due to the after sales service they offered with each sale.
With the foray into the wide format world the Supply One team quickly became experts on digitally printable self adhesive vinyls, banner, film and paper, with staff absorbing every piece of information about features and benefits of adhesives, face stocks and dimensional stability of every product they stock as well as the products its competitors stocked.
Reynolds continues, “I would especially like to thank the staff you have been with us over the years, and hopefully you all grow and evolve, as you all know there is no end to your growth.”
Meanwhile, Mactac says it recognises the effect this closure will have on Supply One’s clientele and is taking urgent steps to find a solution for customer’s supply needs.
A company statement outlines, “Mactac will provide computer cut rolls and digital printing products from Sydney in coming days. IMAGin digital print films and Permacolour laminating products will continue to be available for shipping from our current distribution network with minimal disruption.
“In the meantime we will be working to find a new distribution channel to maintain supply to those customers affected.”
