Versant upgrades to latest Fiery DFE

EFI has made available four new EFI Fiery digital front ends (DFEs) for the updated Fuji Xerox Versant family of digital presses.

The two companies are in a strategic partnership following EFI’s acquisition of the FreeFlow print server from Fuji Xerox.

EFI says the new EX-P 3100, EX 3100, and EX 180 Versant printers are the first in the Asia Pacific region to use the new Fiery NX hardware platform, first previewed at drupa 2016.

Fuji Xerox Versant users can use the EX-P 3100, EX 3100, and EX 180 Print Servers as a gateway to the broadest portfolio of integrated workflows, such as Xerox FreeFlow Core and EFI solutions such as Fiery Central and EFI Digital StoreFront eCommerce and web-to-print software, plus EFI’s portfolio of MIS/ERP workflow products.

Toby Weiss, senior vice president and general manager, EFI Fiery says, “Fiery has been the global market leader throughout the printing industry for the past 25 years, with 1.9 million Fiery DFEs shipped to date.

“The combination of our feature rich, powerful servers with the full integration and flexibility of Fiery workflow software best positions Fiery users for business success, without the need to compromise on unproven technologies. We are pleased to continue delivering these innovations to Fuji Xerox customers.”

The servers also integrate with Agfa Apogee, Kodak Prinergy and Heidelberg Prinect workflows for streamlined management of offset and digital production operations from a single software interface, says EFI.

Weiss says, “The Fiery DFEs launched today for Fuji Xerox Versant Presses continue to show how digital printing businesses worldwide find Fiery servers and workflow software to be true ‘no compromise’ solutions for fast, efficient and accurate digital production output.”

According to the company, operators can use new Fiery QuickTouch software through a built-in 17.5-cm touchscreen display on the server to get faster views of job status information and perform certain device management functions. With just a tap, the touchscreen display gives operators easy access to intuitive system installation, backup and restore functions as well as to system diagnostics information.
