WA printers on the ball with awards

Western Australian printers celebrated their 38th annual awards on Saturday, with printers strutting on their stuff on the dance floor at the second ball.

A total of 43 category awards were recognised in the winner’s hall of fame, with Advance Press taking home the final Best of Category award for their Rio Tinto Diamonds 2015 calendar.

Advance Press director Paul Meloncelli says “It is always a great honour to win Best of Category Award.”

“The award is a great testament to all of our hard work throughout the year.”

The Media Super Young Executive of the Year award was given to Murray Scott from Picton Press.

The 2015 special award winners were Scott Print and Supa Stik Labels for the FutureNow award, Scott Print again with the environment award and WA Design in Print award was shared by Bronwyn Rogers design studio, Advance Press, Zeduke and Supa Stik Labels.

PIAA chief executive Jason Allen says hundreds of print industry members came together to relish in the new event format, which replaced the previous PICA awards in the WA region.

“The new format of the event reflects the changing world of the industry,” he says.

“The awards are a testament to the hard work and dedication to all of the award winners and it is fantastic to see the WA community continuing to lead the industry.”
