Webstar teams up with Ferag at the finish

Noel Rogers, Blue Star Print Group Australia and New Zealand CEO Web Printing, says, “The sexy part of the business is obviously the printing and I think we’re all guilty of not addressing the print finishing part of the business as well as we should.

“I looked very seriously at the traditional bindery solutions but, as our volumes coming off the presses started to grow, I realised that we would need to buy two or maybe three binding lines. Even then, we would still have the massive problem of trying to skill those lines with operators who understood the importance to Webstar of service and delivery.”

According to Rogers, the UniDrum offeres some distinct advantages to the Webstar business.

“The equipment itself is spectacular. It’s rated at 30,000 an hour, it has automated makeready, it’s a modular system that we can add-on as we grow our business. Ferag has fantastic versatility to add inserting lines as we grow so we can respond quickly to customer initiatives and market demands. Ferag is also a good fit and a good partner for Webstar’s business. We’re both passionate about print,” says Rogers.

The Unidrum agreement encompasses full service and maintenance of the equipment including spare parts and day-to-day cleaning, the availability of on-site training, 24 hours a day, and full operational management of the facility by Ferag personnel with guaranteed output targets.

Markus Haefeli, Ferag Australia managing director, is enthusiastic about Webstar’s customer service based approach which he believes is a good fit with the Ferag’s own philosophy.

“We are very pleased to partnering Webstar in their new finishing facility, not just because they are a successful company but also because of their progressive thinking and the importance we both place on being responsive to customer demands,” says Haefeli.

“This is the third high-speed UniDrum gatherer-stitcher we have installed in Australia, and the first to utilise one of our Domino service packages.”
