The two parties are currently engaged in initial discussions on a potential transaction. Further announcements will be made if and when circumstances so require.
Xeikon was one of the two original pioneers of digital printing when along with Benny Landa’s Indigo it launched the digital Xeikon at Ipex 1993. Like Indigo it hit troubled financial waters in the late 1990s, and was acquired by Punch Graphix in September 2002, which beat off bids from offset giant manroland and from a Chinese outfit Yam International.
In recent years Xeikon has focused on the labels and packaging markets for its digital presses, with some success. It also manufactures newspaper CTP systems for Agfa, and the digital ThermoFlexx flexo platemaker.
In Australia Xeikon is sold and serviced by Absolute Eelectronics.
