The twin-engine machine, which can output up to 2,050 A4 pages per minute, is being targeted at companies producing personalised marketing, transpromotional and publishing collateral.

The CiPress 500 builds upon the company’s inkjet strategy announcement at last year’s Ipex trade show, where Xerox outlined its focus on solid ink technology.

It means it can print onto plain papers ranging from 50gsm to 160gsm without soaking through.

The four-colour machine prints at a resolution of 600x400dpi and can handle untreated, uncoated paper stocks up ranging from 229mm to 483mm in width.

Eric Armour, president of the graphic communications business group at Xerox, said: “As the demand for colour pages continues to grow, inkjet devices such as the Xerox CiPress 500 become a strategic installation – positioning printers to capture more profitable jobs and produce them in the most productive, economical way.

Simon Lane, National Manager for Graphic Communications at Fuji Xerox Australia said: “Fuji Xerox Australia has already had a number of engagements with our local clients for this new platform, which we anticipate will become available in Australia in 2012.”

“We also recently announced the Fuji Xerox 2800 Inkjet Color Continuous Feed Printing System, and it’s clear that the combined strengths of Fuji Xerox and Xerox Corporation are allowing us to quickly bring best of breed inkjet technology to the Australian marketplace,” Lane added.
