Agfa launches two new sign and display printers

Agfa has launched two new wide format inkjet printers designed for high-productivity and high quality output, and geared to printers in the high-end segment of sign and display.

The 2.5m Jeti Tauro high-end hybrid UV inkjet press has 32 heads for six colours, and optional white or primer, designed for high productivity printing on both rigid and flexible material.

The other machine is the Jeti Mira, a six-colour plus white UV inkjet flatbed printer with optional varnish or primer. It comes in 2.7m x 1.6m and 2.7m x 3.2m versions

Agfa inkjet vice president Dominiek Arnout says the Mira has a ‘moving-gantry architecture’ with split-vacuum table for ‘productivity, impressive colours, and print quality’.

“The moving-gantry architecture is specifically designed to offer optimal flexibility and high-quality output on a variety of different media,” he says.

Arnout says the new machines are designed to reduce vacuum masking; the ‘split vacuum table features six vacuum zones with automatic and independent control of the front and back vacuum zones’.

He says the print and prepare feature ensures the Jeti Mira prints on both small objects and bigger boards sizes.

“We believe the market will embrace these two new systems that make ultimate use of our dedicated ink technology, and our tailored sign and display workflow. Our matched component approach guarantees that every component yields the best possible result,” he says.

The company also launched new UV inks, designed for specific inkjet print applications requiring flexibilitiy for the ‘most challenging of outdoor conditions’.

Arnout says Agfa’s UV-curable inks, due to the ‘thin ink layer technology’ in both the Jeti Tauro and the Jeti Mira, deliver large-gamut high quality prints with the lowest ink consumption per square metre in the industry.

Agfa launched the new printers at the International Sign Association (ISA) Sign Expo in Las Vegas, where it also launched Asanti 2.0 for automation and integration in the wide format workflow.
