CanPrint prints love letter to Julia Gillard for charity campaign

Australia’s top politicians were sent a heart-shaped card as part of Alzheimer’s Australia’s campaign to get $500 million in dementia funding included in May’s federal budget.

“What would you do if your loved one couldn’t remember you?” the card asked. “Please support the Fight Dementia Action Plan this budget.”

Opus Group subsidiary CanPrint produced 100,000 cards on a five-colour Heidelberg SM 74, said general manager Sam Holden.

Some of the cards were mailed directly to the politicians; most were handed out in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart, Darwin and Alice Springs to be posted by members of the public.

Alzheimer’s Australia’s national communications and media manager, Tegan McGrath, said the charity had turned to CanPrint because the Canberra-based company was its usual printer and always did a good job.

“We’re very happy with how the cards turned out and their efficiency with turning them around,” she said.

Holden thought it made sense for CanPrint to have been involved in such an important federal campaign, given its “reputation in Canberra for being able to handle the most important documents of this town”.

“It’s consistent with [parent company] Opus Group’s strategy of helping our customers with their business outcomes rather than waiting for a quote-and-hope print opportunity,” he said.

The Alzheimer’s Australia’s job follows CanPrint’s recent retention of a $1.5 million Australian National Audit Office contract.
