First printing industry ambassador appointed for WA

Paul Nieuwhof, general manager of Printing Industries WA says Natasha completed her apprenticeship 12 months early, and because of her excellent work ethic and skills was employed as a graphic prepress operator by Express Print.

He says, “Her outstanding achievements led to her being selected as the printing industries first Ambassador to inspire and showcase industry career opportunities to other young people considering their career options.”

Nieuwhof continues, “In addition to successfully completing all of her TAFE training to a high level of technical competency, due to her strong work ethic, friendliness and professional capabilities, Natasha was entrusted with many responsibilities at Express Print that demonstrating her worth to the organisation as an apprentice which led to her being offered a full-time position when she completed her apprenticeship.”

The Ambassadors Programme is a joint initiative between the Western Australian Department of Education and Training and Future Now – the Creative and Leisure Industries Training Council, to promote traineeships and apprenticeships in Western Australia.

Printing Industries CEO Philip Andersen says Hesson is an outstanding role model not just for Western Australia but to all young people around the country.

Andersen says, “Natasha is a positive role model for any young person looking for an apprenticeship or traineeship in our industry, regardless of geographic location. I commend her for her efforts and congratulate Express Print for providing the excellent environment for her to achieve her goals in,” he said.

Of her apprenticeship Hesson says, “You have something different every day. It’s not like you do just the one thing all the time. You learn, earn money, gain experience in the workplace and get a qualification at the end of it.”
