IVE Group executive chairman Geoff Selig passes away suddenly

Executive chairman of IVE Group Geoff Selig has died while on holiday in Europe.

In a statement IVE Group said Selig’s death was “caused by unforeseen complications arising from an accident in Barcelona”.

“The board, management, and the whole IVE family expresses its deepest condolences to Geoff’s family following this tragic event,” the company said.

“Geoff played a major role, over 40 years, in establishing IVE as Australia’s leading marketing and communications business, in the process, reshaping the landscape of the Australian printing industry.”

Sprinter has spoken with IVE CEO Matt Aitken and he has confirmed that no further comments from IVE, other than the statement posted on the ASX, will be made at this time.

Aitken has confirmed the appointment of Gavin Bell, the company’s lead independent director, in the role of interim chair at the extraordinary board meeting held on Sunday will remain in place until the next IVE board meeting takes place.

There is no further information available from the Selig family at this stage regarding the cause of death as well as the potential date for a memorial or funeral.
