Ricoh exhibiting new technologies

Ricoh will be exhibiting a new range of applications from different technologies at this year’s PacPrint, which it says will open up new opportunities for print businesses.

Several of these technologies will be shown in Australia for the first time, and there will be new printer ideas designed which Ricoh says will enable local users to generate more volume and revenue, as well as more value, automating their workflow and entering new markets.

Chief among the stand exhibits Ricoh will be showing its new neon yellow toner, suitable for its fifth colour station of the Ricoh Pro C7100x series digital colour printers.

Ricoh says this new colour will allow print service providers to produce highly creative, eye-catching value-added print on virtually any stock, including synthetics.

The new colour enhances images and can be used as a solid, highlight or graphic colour enabling printers to support diverse market segments from magazine production to direct mail, retail, marketing collateral and point of purchase.

Reflective under UV light, neon yellow makes visuals jump off the page and can also be ideal for printing collateral, including event wrist bands or tickets.

In addition, Ricoh is also launching the new Pro 8200s monochrome press which it says helps print service providers manage varied content in books and brochures, offering a greater number of production sizes and handle more media by eliminating manual steps.

Ricoh says these allow the high-speed black and white digital print platform to enhance and expand the print production capabilities possible. Supporting a wider range of substrates, a creative product mix is enabled by the high capacity interposer which allows front and back covers or inserts, printed on offset or digital printers, to be added post-fusing, into books and manuals. This inline capability also streamlines production.

Visitors will also see the Ricoh Pro C5200s series, an entry-level colour production printer aimed at in-house print centres, corporate reprographics departments, print-for-pay operations and commercial printers.  Ricoh says it enables users to serve as a one stop shop for customers, whether they are an in-plant or print-for-pay, the Ricoh Pro C5200s series opens up a world of possibilities for print production to be more creative for customers. It produces colour and black-and-white documents at up to 80ppm with print resolution of 1,200 x 4,800 dpi. It also works with medias of up to 360gsm simplex and 300gsm duplex, can print an oversize 700mm length sheet and has a total paper capacity of up to 8250 sheets and four paper trays available as standard.

In addition, visitors will be able to see a preview of the company’s Direct to Garment printers, flatbed devices which can print directly to a garment, even from an image download from a mobile phone. Ricoh says this functionality simplifies and shortens the production process compared to traditional analogue screen printing or other methods. The printer can print on a wide range of materials ranging from 100 per cent cotton and 100 per cent light polyester to mixed (polyester) garments up to 50/50 blends.

Ricoh will also be using its live video technology to provide daily demonstrations of its high-speed webfed inkjet digital colour VC60000 printer direct from its regional Customer Experience Centre in Thailand.  Visitors will see the VC60000 running a range of jobs live.

Henryk Kraszewski, senior product and marketing manager – production print at Rico says, “The Australian market continues to demand high quality, personalised stand out commercial printing at the same time as the industry overall remains a highly competitive marketplace.

“While digital printing has come a long way and now offers unique and differentiated options that rival offset printing in terms of quality, the businesses that can offer differentiated, comprehensive services will be more likely to succeed.

“Ricoh’s range of digital printers deliver all these benefits and more, and can help our customers take advantage of the latest developments to build their business and expand their print services to offer more varied and high-quality options.”

Ricoh’s booth number at PacPrint 2017 is F30.
