Schawk and Kayell team up to standardise global colour

Schawk Australia, the local arm of global brand experts SGK Inc, is teaming up with GMG and Kayell Australia to standardise local colour proofing capabilities in a bid to align with a global proofing strategy.

Kayell is working closely with Schawk to launch new GMG colour management software GMG Open Colour technology in four new Epson PSeries proofing devices at Schawk’s North Sydney headquarters.

Schawk Australia operations manager Ryan Sharratt says Schawk will use the latest version of GMG FlexoProof software on its three new Epson PSeries 9070 and one new P7070 proofer.

Speaking to Australian Printer, Kayell director Andreas Johansson says the standardising on GMG will allow Schawk to provide a consistent colour in packaging branding internationally.

“What they have done with GMG Open Colour is they have worked backwards, they have looked at the press then came up with the algorithms,” Johansson says.

“The ability to calculate the behaviour of overprinting spot colours will save valuable press runs, meaning new brand colours can be brought to market quickly, economically and most importantly with insane accuracy.”

Sharratt adds, “Our key brand owners can be reassured that colour accuracy and consistency will be maintained regardless of which Schawk location, and in which location the job is produced.

“SGK and Schawk is a worldwide organisation, and repeatability and consistency is paramount for our international clients.”

Founded in 1984 in Tuebingen, Germany GMG is a developer and supplier of high-end colour management software solutions including GMG Open Colour, FlexoProof and ColorProof software.
