Suspicious fire rips through Melbourne TLC

A fire that tore through Melbourne trade finishing house TLC over the weekend has been labelled as suspicious by Victoria police.

Firefighters were called to the West Melbourne factory after it went up in flames on Saturday night shortly before 9pm, and engaged in a two-hour struggle to bring the blaze under control.

Most of the fire damage occured in the Signarama section of the premises, which is also owned by TLC managing director Barry Webster after he bought the Melbourne CBD franchise two years ago.

It is believed the flames caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage to the Melbourne printer.

According to police reports, initial investigations prompted officers to treat the fire as suspicious.

No one was injured during the incident, and Victoria Police are yet to determine the source of the flames. According to reports firefighters were unable to locate the seat of the flames due to the factory layout.

Phone calls to the factory on Ireland Street are ringing out, and it is understood the fire has shut down operations for the interim. ProPrint contacted Webster however he was not answering.

More to come.
