Konica Minolta launches next-gen monochrome printer

Konica Minolta Australia has launched the new bizhub Pro 1100 with integrated high speed colour, which the company says has been specifically designed for printers producing high volume black and white images. With many businesses now going paperless, Konica Minolta has added colour scanning capabilities, designed to address new markets which required colour scanned copies of print work. Konica Minolta product manager Grant Thomas says the company has targeted the bizhub Pro 1100 primarily towards high volume print rooms that also require colour scanning capabilities.

Thomas says, “A lot of their work is based on printing manual or instruction booklets which they need to produce for internal or external customers. The printer primarily fits into a multi-function role, because some parts of business need to archive colour scan documents. “By using a black and white printer, these companies can reduce print costs without losing detail. Colour printers cost five cents per print; this machine reduces that cost to 0.6 cents per print. Where colour is not a real requirement, black and white can give definition as highlight areas rather than colour areas.” The company says the bizhub can run at speeds of up to 100ppm and comes with a tandem printing function allowing two bizhub systems to combine, doubling output speeds and easily managing a heavy work load. Konica Minolta says with its ‘Simitri High Definition Polymerised Toner’, which uses smaller particles designed to produce fine details with greater precision, the printer produces a solid black print with a genuine resolution of 1200 by 1200 dpi. The bizhub Pro 1100 is the first roll out of carbon neutral machines offered by Konica Minolta, which expects to add more carbon neutral machines to its portfolio of printers. For the first five years of machine life, the company pays Carbonfree Consulting Corporation credit to develop projects which offset emissions produced from running the machine.
