Print finishing company Allkotes is now supplying a matte metallised film that both offset and digital printers can print directly onto for a shiny finish.

Soft Metal has a matte silver look with the velvety feel of TouchMatte, which Allkotes says provides a pearlescent look through the sheet when printed on top

The company describes the film as a matte version of its gloss metallised ReflectaKote film, describing it as a ‘feel good’ matte.

Allkotes business development director Darren Delaney says the film produces never seen before results. “Why not try reversing your text out of the surrounding colour and watch in awe at the result,” he says.

The film is opaque and can be applied to the whole sheet, then over printed. Allkotes recommends stock weights of 170gsm or higher, preferably coated one side only, to avoid issues with static.

Printers do not need a white ink option to print on Soft Metal, four-colour CMYK will deliver results.

Digital printers can achieve a glossy finish with the DigiKote Gloss Metal option, and the film is also suitable for traditional offset printing equipment and can be combined with UV for foil or vinyl inks.

The film is aimed at jobs that need an extra impact, from book covers, dust jackets, direct mail pieces, magazine covers, packaging, presentation folders, greeting cards and point-of-sale.
