Vistaprint wins international Shingo Award

Vistaprint’s Deer Park printing plant has won a bronze Shingo Award for operational excellence, becoming the first printing facility to ever win the international honour.

The award by the Shingo Institute at Utah State University, USA recognises companies for “delivering world class results and demonstrating an ongoing commitment to leading and influencing a strong culture of operational excellence”.

Having opened in 2010, the Deer Park plant in suburban Melbourne is also the first facility in Australia, and one of the newest ever to win the award, which runs across all manufacturing operations.

Deer Park plant director Gareth Brown says receiving a Shingo Award is a significant milestone that validates that his team is moving in the right direction.

“Being clear in our vision and creating a great place to work has helped the entire team stay focused on our goal. We recognise that improvement is a journey and there is still much work to be done,” he says.

Vistaprint Australia managing director Robert Bruce says: “Right from launch, our plant in Australia established a clear vision – to become the best mass customisation manufacturer in Australia.”

“The keys to our success have been establishing a clear and long term vision, assembling an amazingly talented and dedicated team here in Melbourne, setting the bar high from day one; and providing continual encouragement and support to the team in order to bring our vision to life.”

The Deer Park facility is one of five printing plants Vistaprint operates across the globe.
